Introduction to HOSA

What is HOAS? How does HOSA help you and the economy?

Did you know that HOSA stands for Health Occupations Students of America? HOSA is a health club that teaches young students who want to be in the medical field. This club helps students develop leadership, motivation, self-worth, and commitment to the development of the whole person. HOSA also does many community activities. Include thanksgiving food drive and volunteering at Okeechobee family health and safety expo, along with Region IV competitions. “I love being able to prepare myself for my future medical career! It makes me feel like I am bettering my future,” Rylann Maxwell (senior) said.
The Most important community activity HOSA does here in Okeechobee is the blood drives which start on October 5th. Those who are not eighteen or up will need parents’ permission before donating blood. The blood donated here in Okeechobee goes to the four districts around us, such as Okeechobee itself, Indian river, St.Lucy, and Marten county! All in all, “ What I like about HOSA is that pretty much everyone here is willing to help someone and I am nervous about the blood drive,” Miranda Jones (Sophomore) Said.
