Guess what week it is! Homecoming Week. Students all over campus are dressed in Red White and blue. Several students have been participating in the dress days in school. Oh and the homecoming dance and other activities. Here in Okeechobee we have a tradition called the bonfire. During this tradition our seniors make teams with their friends, then they all collect wooden pallets and return them to the school. The pallets are counted to see which team gathered the most, after figuring this out, whichever team gathered the most pallets will be able to light the bonfire that night along with the most spiritied team. The senior students are able to go on the road across from the fire. The rest of the students hang out on the track and the football feild. “This was the first bonfire ive been too and it is one for the books, i could literally feel the heat off of it on the track” Caitlyn Rocconella(23) said.

The small town of Okeechobee also has regular school activities like pep rallies, and football games, and parades. But I believe that the bonfire is what makes Okeechobee a great school to be at during homecoming week! Students can also participate in a classical homecoming dance. The students never fail to show up in their best attire.
