WHERE ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE

Disney World opened 50 years ago today, Disney opened in Bay Lake, Florida near Orlando. Walt Disney was the creator of this magical world. Walt Disney was born in December of 1901 in Chicago, he created so many memorable characters like Mickey Mouse, Snow White and the seven dwarves, Donald Duck, Dumbo, Bambi, and Pinocchio. “Snow White and Bambi was my entire childhood,” Kaylie May (11th grader) said. Young Walt left to enlist in the army, he was denied because he was too young, instead, he joined the red cross, he created these cartoon characters on his ambulance. Afterward, he went to Kansas City and he created animations for marketing, he went to California with only 40 dollars and a few drawing materials, he became a big name, hired employees, made a name for himself. He later created Disneyland in California. Disney was happy with the way that things were going in Disneyland, he then thought of the idea to make a park in Florida, he worked on it for seven years. Walt Disney World encompassed The Magic Kingdom (approximately 107 acres), featuring Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Tomorrowland, a Main Street USA, with about 5,500 cast members. “I never knew that Disney World was based off of Disneyland in California,” Delaney Keplinger (grade 11) said. About 11 years later EPCOT was built, (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) EPCOT was a personal vision of Disney’s, it was one of his last greatest creations, he died before it was finished.
