How the HOSA blood drives helps our community.
Every year when the members of HOSA get a chance they participate and support the blood drives. These blood drives held by HOSA are important for not only them but also the community. It allows people to help others by giving their blood to someone who may need it more. These people save lives, and for those who donate here in Okeechobee High School blood drives, the blood here actually goes to the four counties around us, such as Okeechobee itself, Indian River, St.Lucie, and Martin.
It’s even important for the HOSA members themselves. The blood drive allows the members to get experience or witness how to take blood. This is an important and basic skill needed for anyone who wishes to go into the medical field. Though, blood drives are not for everyone, after all this member of HOSA made a good point when she told me, “I personally don’t do them because, one, I’m too young and two, I do not like needles in me, but it’s important to do,” Mackenzie Osteen (10th) said. So, next time you see a blood drive, what will you do? After all, “Blood Donation Costs You Nothing, But It Can Mean The World To Someone In Need.” Victoria Skeen (RN Health Science Instructor) said.
