What Is STUCO

What STUCO is and does.

STUCO is an acronym that stands for Student Council. Student Council here at Okeechobee High School mainly concentrates and works on Spirit Week, which has a bunch of activities involved. Which is directed towards student participation; fundraising events; Homecoming Week; and the school’s ten-year reunions. Although, I have been told that,”…they could be a little more creative with the games…I would absolutely die (in a good way) if they made foursquare,” Amilia Burns (10th) said. although overall, you can tell the Student Council does a lot for our high school.

It also educates and helps the kids who are in the Student Council. You see, Student Council, as mentioned, lets kids participate in things like Homecoming, Prom, and fundraising. While also giving kids a chance to make big decisions that ultimately can affect our school. This allows them to learn about proper and democratic decision-making, and this is just the beginning of what STUCO does for our High School, the kids, and the community. Afterall “I believe student council is a very organized group with important roles and responsibilities,” Emelyn Davila. (10th) said.
