Effects of Journalism
Journalism is a class you can take at OHS. This class requires you to be able to work on the school year book! Yes, the yearbook is made by the students. You may have to go around the school and take photos of the students, or you could end up at sports events and other events around the school. Journalism is a good class, however it has an effect on the students lives. “Journalism has given me a lot of stress because my name will be in the yearbook and i want it to be the best it can be,” Caitlyn Rocconella(11) said. Journalism can be a rigorous course, but it is very beneficial for students. “It gives them a chance to organize, to collaborate, to critically think, and to prioritize, while making the yearbook,” Carey Pung (Journalism Instructor at OHS) said. Students being able to prioritize certain tasks is a very well self disciplined act. Critically thinking is beneficial in life, we are meant to critically think every day with our life choices. Saying this, the course is very beneficial for students especially in high school when they’re about to start lives of their own. So the stress is worth it sometimes.
