Students spend more time looking at a screen rather than reading a book or going on a walk. According to socialbuddy.com, “This report found that teens (ages 13-18) spent about 9 hours daily on entertainment media, including social media…” That brings up the question, Which app do students use the most? To answer this question, I uploaded an Instagram story poll and asked my followers (385) which app they have been obsessed with this week. The poll only allowed 4 options so to narrow it down I listed the 4 most used apps according to my friends. The apps listed were; Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and BeReal. The poll was up for a total of 15 hours. At the end of the 15 hours, the result showed that 27% of people use Instagram, 46% of people use TikTok, 14% of people use Snapchat, and 13% of people use BeReal the most. Therefore concluding that the app that is most popular this week is TikTok. I asked a student why TikTok was her most used app this week, “I like to see what people are doing and it helps me keep up with trends and online drama,” Constanza Barrera (10) said. Tiktok is a social media app where people can post short 3 or less-minute-long videos. Through these videos, people can express their interest and creativity. In conclusion, TikTok was the most popular app this week.
