Multicultural Studies is a course that teaches its students about the origins and importance of the many distinct cultures that formed the massive melting pot that the United States is today. It also talks about the causes and influences of immigrants coming to the U.S. One of the main reasons immigrants came was to find new opportunities for life, and influenced the country by bringing in their diverse cultures and becoming one of the factors to greatly inflate the economy.
The evolution of the country we live in today is also taught. For the history of the U.S, it starts with the Ice Age to the European settlers that came from the other side of the world. Then soon the introduction of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights would come, which allowed the freedoms for different cultures to thrive.
This class can be quite simple and straightforward if you put the mind to it, but something I will mention, there’s a bit of note taking and presentation projects you’ll have to do, but can all be done in a single class period.
Speaking of–here’s a wise quote from the teacher of this course, Mr. Welch!
“Those who forget the past are condemned to repeating it,” Mr. Welch (10) said.
