The Okeechobee Debate Team is an academic and competitive school program that teaches students everyday speaking skills, knowledge of current and historical events, and respect. This club is fully funded by Florida Debate and Civic Initiative and we participate in National Debate and Speech Association’s tournaments. This club is available for everyone willing to participate by attending meetings and tournaments with over a 2.0 GPA. This club is sponsored by Ms. Adams in building 14.
The club is actually a competitive team. What they do is practice for debate tournaments where they argue different points that may have historical or modern history. As a team, they go to these tournaments and compete either as a team or individually. These debates actually prepare you for other public speaking opportunities and teach you to communicate effectively with one another.
