What is the program for a rehearsal in the drama club?

Rehearsals usually start with a reading of the script, during which everyone will read their part to help understand the story better. After knowing the story, they train on stage, they generally do 1 to 3 scenes a day. While the actors are training, the director will tell them when they have to make a blocking* and this will then be written into the script. Then, the actors will have to learn their script as well as the blockages during and outside the rehearsals. Once this process is complete, they will have to practice on stage without their script with their costumes. They’re going to practice like this, with their costumes for a few days before the show. Finally, the last week of rehearsal is called “the technical week”. That is to say that during these rehearsals, they will perform the whole show with all the elements that will be present on the day of the performance (microphones, lighting, costumes,…). This is how the technical team will be able to ensure that everything is correct (sound, lighting, etc.). And at this point, normally the actors have memorized the entire show.

“Wearing our costumes during practices allows us to get used to them before the performance, but also to ensure that our lines and our blocking are fully memorized.” Kendra Henderson (12) said.
