You’re going throughout your day and suddenly you get a notification on your phone. The notification says “Time to BeReal. 2 min left to capture a BeReal and see what your friends are up to!” You unlock your phone and snap a pic. No filters and no editing. Only being real.
BeReal is a fairly new social media app that encourages users to share honest moments from their own lives. The user is not allowed to see their friend’s post until they post a BeReal themselves. They can post outside of the 2-minute window but then it would be considered a late post.
BeReal saves your daily posts and you can always go back to view them so it’s also a nice way to save memories. A fan favorite feature that makes this app unique is that it snaps a pic from your front camera and your back camera at the same time. “I love the concept of it. It is like social media but with less pressure and toxicity to be this perfect figure. It truly lets me just be me and just be real,” Johana Hernandez (10) said.
