Making new friends

To build friendships and break barriers between students in the general education setting and students with varying exceptionalities. Friends 4 Life is a club that was established to foster relationships between students who are disabled and their non-disabled peers. Our students with exceptionalities are incredibly outgoing and enjoy socializing with their peers outside of the full-time ESE setting. We haven’t had many events in the last couple of years, but one that we hope to continue is our “Get to Know Us Mix and Mingle” with the residents of Seminole Cove. We all had a great time doing our name learning icebreaker, playing bingo, singing karaoke, and eating strawberry shortcakes. We hope to set up some fundraisers and field trips to incorporate events outside the school. All members are considered leaders, in which we continuously work on leadership and the value of having effective communication with others. To join you may enroll during the club fair or see Bowen, Kuipers, and Lovett for more information. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month (between August-May, school closures/events will result in rescheduled meetings).

“We hope to have the participation of non-disabled students”, said SUSAN KUIPERS.
