Welcome back, post viewer, to another post to find out what’s going on in the classes for Social Studies this week! This week, we’re looking into Multicultural Studies.
In Multicultural Studies, the class is still discussing Unit 2, Women’s History. One of the essential figures being discussed right now is Mary Ann Shadd Cary, who became the first-ever African American woman to attend Howard University Law School in 1869 and thus became the first African American woman to earn a law degree. She also fought alongside Susan B. Anthony for woman’s suffrage and was the first African American woman to cast a vote in a national election. Later in the week, Unit 2 will reach its endpoint with a test on Friday, and very soon in the next coming week, the class will get started with Unit 3.

Another important figure that was mentioned in the class was Gerty Theresa Radnitz Cori, who won a Nobel Prize for discovering, along with her husband, Carl, how glucose is converted into glycogen.
And as always, here’s an inspirational quote from the teacher of this course, Mr. Welch. “I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will,” Mr. Welch (10) said.
