I have interviewed several teachers that teach elective classes and I will write about what these classes and students are up to. First off, in Ag Mechanics, according to Clint Thompson, the teacher for that respective class, they are finishing their shop safety unit, and starting to learn about tools. In dual enrollment welding, they are working on safety, rigging hand signals. Next, in CTE construction, who’s teacher is Steve Szentmartoni, are building pallet furniture for a museum. Periods 4/6-6/7 are building picnic tables for South Elementary. Lastly, in Health Science class, led by Eden Hornung, are finishing the “Foundations of Anatomy and Physiology” with their first quiz on August 23rd over terminology that has been covered via lecture, discussion and classwork. Her classes will be covering cell function, tissue types, the integumentary system and the skeletal system before the end of this first 9 week period. A new digital learning platform “Visible Body” will also be launched in her classroom within the next week, providing students with 3D visualization of the systems we will learn about during the course of this school year.
