Recipe: Mason’s Secret Apple Pie

1. Ingredients:

    6-7 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

    1 cup granulated sugar

    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

    1 package ready-made pie crust (or homemade if preferred)

    1 egg (for egg wash)

2. Instructions:

   – Preheat your oven to 425°F 220°C.

   – In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss until the apples are coated with the mixture.

   – Roll out one pie crust and line a pie dish with it.

   – Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, and dot the top with small pieces of butter.

   – Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. Trim and crimp the edges to seal the pie.

   – Beat the egg and brush it over the top crust for a golden finish. Sprinkle sugar on top for a sweet crunch.

   – Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.

   – Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

   – Allow the pie to cool for a while before slicing into this good masterpiece.

Mason makes I think one of the best apple pies ever well in my opinion.
