He’s a Runner, He’s a Track Star

Symode Williams is a track sensation. He ran the 100 and 400 meters.

Talent: Talent can be considered something an individual is really good at.

“And my advice to everyone out there is– ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ – I know that from almost passing out after a 400 meters run.”

Symode Williams

Symode Williams, a current senior at Okeechobee High, claims that his talent is running. You read that right folks, running! The sport that everyone seems to either despise or have a love and hate relationship with. Williams uncovered his passion for running at the age of 8 and is still currently running at the age of 17, pretty admirable if you ask me.  When Williams decided to start running, he was not inspired by anyone or anything and though that’s hard to believe, he started running because it didn’t sound like a bad idea. As time progressed though, running became his release from stress and helps him to keep a leveled head, plus, he proves to be very good at it. He is on the track team and is rumored to be the fastest. “I’ve gone to every single track meet and from my memory he has only lost a few times and those times he either ranked first, second or third but never last,” said a student. According to Williams, his first meet was humbling but now it just feels natural. He is more of a short distance runner so he runs the 100 meters and 400 meters. His slowest time recorded was 12:86 on the 100 meters and his fastest was 11:20 on the 100 meters but sadly I was not able to get a time for his 400 meters. It took a lot of hard work for Williams to progress so far and with his talent he has hopes of getting a scholarship for track and to even compete in the Olympics. With him being a track sensation and a determined soul, he will definitely achieve his goal.  “And my advice to everyone out there is– ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ – I know that from almost passing out after a 400 meters run,” Symode Williams said.
