The U.S. Army Took Action

This Tuesday (9/26) was a significant day for the U.S. This day one-hundred-five years ago, in 1918, the U.S. Army launched one of the largest offensives in American military history, the Meuse-Argonne Campaign of the First World War. The Meuse-Argonne Campaign of the First World War was so big it contained more than 1.2 million soldiers of the American Expeditionary Forces. This fight was also the deadliest campaign in American history, it resulted in over 26,000 soldiers being killed in action, and over 120,000 total casualties. This fight lasted until November 11, 1918, a little over two months. The Meuse-Argonne Campaign was one of the fights that brought an end to the War. This affected everyone who was in the U.S. including Okeechobee. Without this campaign, we would have had way more casualties and deaths. “It is sad that so many people had to die, from something that could’ve been avoided.” Gwendolyn Mitchell said.
