Talent: Talent Can be considered something an individual is really good at.

“That’s for life but wrestling has an expiration date.”

Max Downing

Max Downing, a particularly strong individual, asserts that his talent is wrestling. You read that right folks, he can meet you on the mat and take you down! Rather Intriguing, isn’t it? Downing started wrestling at the age of 16 (sophomore year) and his story on why he started is one I find pretty interesting and a bit motivating. Apart from wrestling, Downing also participates in football (surprise surprise! He is fairly athletic). His football buddies were the ones to propose the idea of wrestling to Downing in his freshman year but he wasn’t too sure about it and second-guessed himself, hence, he ended up missing the deadline for tryouts. Then, sophomore year rolled around and his football friends once again tried coaxing him into wrestling and he actually gave it a shot because he thought it was better than sitting at home playing video games. Once he started it was going well but he became fond of the sport and figured out that it is something he is very passionate about when he realized that wrestling was harder than football. That might sound absurd because who in the world would like something harder, right? Well, Max is the type of guy who loves to challenge himself and push past his limits. With wrestling it allows him to do just that and it helps as a confidence booster plus it keeps him going. It also proves to be something he truly enjoys because he is now 18 years of age and still partakes in the activity. However, Downing does not wish to actually pursue wrestling any further than high school and if he did it would be for his own enjoyment. He is more focused on his academics and believes it would be nice to get a scholarship for wrestling but that’s not his aim. “That’s for life but wrestling has an expiration date,” Max Downing said when speaking about his education in comparison to wrestling. While that discovery is a bit sad, you can’t argue with someone who has their priorities set.

What is your talent?? Can you meet and beat anyone on the mat like Max??
