Did You Hear About Homecoming

This last week, which was the 16th-20th, was a very busy week for the cheerleaders. This was homecoming week. On Thursday the 19th the cheerleaders were responsible for being in the parade. In the parade, they danced to the fight song and the kick-off song while the coaches threw out shirts and other merchandise. “Even not working at the high school during the day, it’s always hectic, but I absolutely love seeing the excitement, creativity, and school spirit at the events I get to attend. Homecoming is such a fun and memorable time for everyone,” Sarah Blomerth said. Then after the parade, there was a pep rally at night. This is where the cheerleaders stand in front of their class and the students are picked to play games. After the pep rally, there was a bonfire that the seniors gathered pallets for. On Friday there was the homecoming game. The cheerleaders wore their gold uniforms and Okeechobee was playing Lake Placid. Okeechobee won and the cheerleaders had to do around 30 pushups that day for every point the players scored. At the game, the cheerleaders had their mats meaning they could do stunts. They did some baskets and other stunts. Around the 4th quarter, they threw out shirts and went up into the stands to hand out cups.

MariJayne Woods, Alyssa Bottari, Selina Boswell, and Natalie Zarrella do a stunt at the homecoming game on 10/20 during halftime. This stunt was done because someone was recording the cheerleaders and they wanted to show off their skills.
