As I looked more and more into the Debate club, I came to the realization that the debate club isn’t really a club but it’s a team. They are a competitive team, and the debate team studies government and has congress debates, they also have debates on our current times. This gives students time to say how they feel about our current times and express what changes they think we need. I was told, “The debate team learned about the study of the government and how to have a congress debate. and we even had debates on our current times” Qwtaysha Dingle(11) said. One of their services this year is to help the middle schools with their debate team. On August 26, four members of the debate team went to Yearling Middle School, they will be competing with us this year. Both Middle Schools will be joining the debate team in the tournament. This event gives the middle schoolers a chance to grow and be able to express their opinions. This team can also teach a student how to hold a valid argument, give them a chance to come out of their comfort zone and say what they feel, and also help with public speaking.
