Raising the money to help lives
The NHS is currently making flyers for the backpacking program where they try and raise money for food for students that come from homes that don’t have much. The flyer also helps bring in kids that would like to help pack food for hungry students. The meetings NHS holds are usually in the cafeteria on a Wednesday once a month. Students join each year if the requirements of a 3.5 or higher GPA is met. Students with vehicles are usually driving this packed food and donating it to the hungry kids searching for meals. They get breakfast, lunch, and dinner over the weekends with the help of this program. The NHS is currently helping 210 students each year which totals to 57000 dollars yearly. They do the End The Hunger backpack program where “students help other students.” I’m sure all the students helped in this program are extremely thankful for the NHS and I hope the continue to do this good thing.
“This program helps provide food for kids who go hungry over the weekend and don’t know when their next meal will be.” Andee Garcia (10) said.
