As of this date, the great people at SWAT for Okeechobee county are currently trying to establish our dear SWAT with a county-wide chapter that will contain several school based and community based SWAT clubs. They are administered through the Quit Doc Research and the Education Foundation. We have no clue, or at least I do of when we might be able to accomplish this. But if we can, we can cut down the amount of tobacco use by such a heavy amount, it could be up to 30%. And one day if we’re lucky, we could make this entire county tobacco free. “I was chosen in 2016 to serve on the Antismoking campaign for the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia. We worked with young people to show them the danger of smoking. The side effects of smoking nicotine can cause many life changing conditions. I worked with many patients that had mouth cancer at the age of 17 and 18 years old. Many young people do not know how dangerous smoking can be to them. Vaping has the same dangerous effects. My foster mother told me that inhaling nicotine or other drugs was comparable to inhaling an evil spirit. So, I was always scared to inhale something that could hurt me. Be proud of yourself for being strong enough to not follow the crowd and vape or smoke. Be stronger! ” Mary Albright said.
