Background Info:
Courtney LaFlam was not always set on teaching. She had previously worked at Wells Fargo Financial as an assistant manager, where she trained new employees. She later decided to come to Okeechobee and thought of the idea of teaching. She associated it with training new employees, but instead, it would be training young people for the real world. Which is ‘how she fell in love with teaching,’ as she describes.
Advice:
Vital pieces of advice were given to me by LaFlam for all students, both in and outside of school, to always focus on the positive. “I didn’t say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it,” LaFlam said. In other words, she hopes the people of the future look at things differently with a better understanding, as well as being determined and not afraid to struggle for something worth it.
