“Home or away” can mean much more than just a location—it can represent a feeling. Home is often where we feel safest, surrounded by familiar faces, routines, and memories that shape who we are. It’s the place where we can relax and truly be ourselves without fear of judgment. Away, on the other hand, brings excitement, adventure, and the chance to grow beyond our comfort zones. Being away from home can teach independence, resilience, and appreciation for what we left behind. Sometimes, distance helps us understand how much home really means to us. Other times, we discover that “away” can slowly start to feel like a new home. Whether we are home or away, both experiences shape our identity in powerful ways. In the end, it’s not just about where we are, but how those places make us feel and who we become because of them. “I would rather be away I need a break from home,” Gabriel Salas (10).
