There are many rules, tactics, and strategies, though that goes into winning a chess match, that doesn’t mean it’s not any fun!

Chess is hard, there are many rules, tactics, strategies, but even then it is a really fun game. After all those rules and strategies are there to help you. I mean think about it, in Chess, you have eight pawns, two bishops, two knights, two rooks, one queen, and one king. This is a lot of pieces to keep track of throughout a game, and that’s just our pawns, not the opponents.
Thinking about this, I can see why not many people go out and play Chess. It’s a game that takes a lot of time and concentration, after all, “Chess is a game that requires patience and intellect in which you are able to spot traps, and set them,” said Hunter Huffman (11th)
This is also what makes chess fun. You see, for those who don’t know how chess works, the goal is to “destroy” your opponent’s king. So, how do you do that? Well, there are many ways you can do this. The most common way is to use a tactic or strategy. A common strategy that I believe many players unintentionally use is Attraction. This is where someone will lure or force an enemy’s chess piece into a specific spot to make it vulnerable or to use another tactic on it. We do this in Chess because, “Chess is a game that requires hard thinking and deciphering between wrong or right moves. One mistake, and you could lose the advantage,” said Jose Cisneros (11th)
